Those numbers get quoted constantly and have barely moved in decades, and part of the reason is that the process of raising itself remains mostly private. The how sits behind closed doors. We read that a founder raised, but we rarely hear how many nos came first, or what it cost her to get there.

So every episode I sit down with female founders who have raised, and the investors writing the cheques, from Seed to Series D and beyond, and ask for the specifics. Then I take that conversation apart and send you three takeaways you can use.

Now a media founder and an angel investor, and when a guest is mid-raise I sometimes join the cap table. The bias is real and we know it. But what actually sits between most women and a term sheet is narrower than the system itself. It is access, information, and how she walks into the room. Those three move a great deal faster than the system does, and they are the ones I am here to change.
